Sustainability is rapidly becoming a mainstream business issue, primarily because environmental, social and regulatory compliance issues are having growing financial impacts on companies. Ignoring a company’s environmental footprints may increase financial risks for organizations. By continuing in this path, a company might also miss key opportunities for innovation, creativity, brand enhancement, competitive advantage and the sustainability of business itself.
On the other hand, it is also true that unless sustainability can really help companies achieve their business goals; more specifically profit, most of them would simply be unwilling to implement sustainability principles in their businesses and organizations. This book tries to find the middle ground where both shareholders as well as stakeholders could satisfy their common interests and where the triple bottom line i.e. people, planet and profit is served through sustainable value creation.
